Hi everyone!!
Me again, this time dreaming of hosting a halloween party with cheese and candy pairings (also here), grabbing leaf branches from outside as desk decor, and watching more of my house renovation progress slowly move along (still shooting for that Spring move in)!
Lately, I have really been focusing on little things that make life more fun - the premise of why I started this newsletter to begin with. I revamped my desk space to make work a bit more exciting, and have been focusing on trying new recipes frequently throughout the week. I literally spent extra time cutting sweet potatoes into jack o’ lanterns for my lunch the other day. I would love to hear if you have any ‘little things’ that you have been leaning into lately. Comment below!
I’m starting to get the *premonition* that the magic is in the work we are avoiding. The more resistance you feel to a task, the more important it is you do it. Resistance isn’t a sign of what to avoid. It is a sign of what will help you become the person you need to be to achieve your goals – as cheesy as it sounds. Like many people I am sure, I tend to avoid the things I know would be fulfilling but require me to think differently, schedule my day differently (this is a big one!), show up differently etc. Our body always wants to be comfortable and to know what to expect next, but these next few months I am pushing myself (and nudging you all) to complete the things you are avoiding. The art, the travel, the reading, the budgeting, etc. Oftentimes, your body has a way of showing you exactly where you should be and the next step you are meant for, you have to be confident enough not to resist. P.S. You build confidence by doing.
Instances/Places Where I Believe Magic Happens:
Spending time with your grandparents
Wearing a hand-me-down
Sharing/receiving a well loved recipe
Harvesting something you’ve spent months growing in the garden
Trying a new form of art making
Looking through old pictures
Learning about a new, random topic that interests you

‘Boo’ Baskets
I am the biggest ‘boo’ basket girl. Have I ever gotten one truly? no. But I can sure put them together (in my opinion)! A best friend of mine came to visit a few weeks about for a short weekend trip in the country, and I put together just a few items in a mini basket. There’s something so fun about going through the store and putting together things I think look cute together (another main theme in this newsletter). It’s not too late to make your own boo basket for yourself or your loved ones. If I had my own place this year, I would invite my best friends over, we would do a thrifted boo basket exchange, and I would be providing the candy and cheese pairing charcuterie. Next year!!
Here are a few boo basket items as inspiration I would add or love to receive! Don’t forget something homemade/made locally and at least a hint of dollar store Halloween nostalgia.
DOWN THE HATCH 🎃
A few fun recommendations for your food this week… Kicking it off by reminding you to stock up on Halloween candy – you can find my latest and greatest designs here at Target! This is the second year I was able to concept some fun ideas for Target’s Favorite Day Halloween treat bags. Little me would be so excited to see the process and this work come to life. More on my Instagram.
However, if you desire to lean a bit on the healthier side, I newly discovered a greek yogurt protein breakfast bowl with a homemade granola/oatmeal topper. (Pictured up top). It is super easy and quick.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 egg
1/2 banana
1/2 tbsp maple syrup
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp vanilla extract
Mash the banana, add oats, egg, maple syrup, cinnamon and vanilla. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add mixture. Spread out and cook for 3-4 minutes.
Serve on top of greek yogurt, with apples, nut butter, cinnamon, and maple syrup if desired.
THE SMALL THINGS
A glass of wine with a good friend
Jack O Lantern bags you stuff leaves in (90’s kids know)
Almond butter
Fall bonfires
Hocus Pocus
Sweatshirt weather
Vintage cookie cutters
As always, you can find me on TikTok @betadeflorian and on Instagram.
Thank you so much for being here and reading, say hi!
